Hair Lovers!
Addiction! Everyone has one. Some people are unfortunately subjected to a burden of being addicted to gambling, drugs, porn, sex, among many other things. There is a new silent modern addiction among us and yes people are addicted to weaves: a weave-a-holic. Yes they exist out there and that is not necessarily a bad thing. It is a bad thing however, if you are addicted to weaving your hair because you are not happy with who you are as a person and you want to hide and pretend to be something else. There's a big difference between being unsatisfied with your image and hating your image.
Are you afraid of your natural hair? Are you afraid of the length? Or do you want variety?
Personally speaking, I love my hair. I absolutely LOVE the fact that it can transform and switch to many different textures. “Ethnic hair” can do anything it wants to. Sometimes I want to have 16” of long straight flowing hair, maybe try a 14” curly body wave or even a nice 10” shorter than my genuine hair length. Heck I may even want to braid my hair and not add any harsh chemicals to my hair for months. It sounds fun right? Well it’s a lot of work, slightly costly, but it is indeed fun. My addiction to weaves has nothing to do with me hiding behind who I am as a woman. I’ve worn my hair a gazillion and one ways and it just boils down to balancing out laziness and maintenance.
Some add hair for color. Coloring hair is a bold risky move. You really have to know everything about YOUR hair before coloring. When I say coloring, I mean BOTH dying and rinsing hair. For that reason, some avoid the headache and buy colored hair to blend into their own. Some add reds, browns, blondes, n blues, etc to achieve a certain look, AND THERE ISN’T ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
However, let’s look at the opposing argument. Some women are genuinely AFRAID of their natural hair texture and/or length and some are ashamed of their real hair. Those are deeper personal issues of not being able to love and accept yourself and allowing today’s modern society pressure you into believing natural hair is taboo when indeed it is a beautiful thing.
Having hair that has a flexible texture is a major privilege. Our hair is more important to us than we realize and from time to time, sometimes adding bits of hair, here and there allows you to alter your look with the right amount of intensity AND THERE ISNT ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
EMBRACE YOUR HAIR IN ALL OF ITS FORMS. LOVE YOURSELF WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR.

My addiction to weave is undescribable. I have a collection of ponytail peices. And have packs of weave lined up for the spring. I love long weave like 14-16"
ReplyDeleteLOL... and there's nothing wrong with that. Variety is good especially when transitioning looks between seasons. Enjoy the spring my friend, let me know what looks you do in the summer. Thanx for visiting the site, and spread the word to your friends. xoxo
