Trayvon Martin

My name is Helena Hardin and I am Trayvon Martin

I debated for awhile whether or not if I should write a blog post about Trayvon Martin..... I deeply feel its one of those things that if not worded properly it can be taken out of context by the reader. Theres no easy way to swallow the hard truth. A dear friend passed this article to me. I agree 100% and felt as if I couldn't have said it better myself. Can You handle the truth? Au Natural

For the past year or so I've noticed the rise of something beautiful. Women rocking their natural hair. I don't mean natural as in no hair added I mean natural as in non chemically processed hair. From dark Cesar's to long locks I'm loving the way natural hair looks. When I was in HS I wanted to go natural but didn't want to go through the "ugly" phase of growing out my relaxed hair. I couldn't imagine myself with short hair back then. Now that I'm already short I don't mind going even shorter.

For those wanting to go natural but are scared of a BC (big chop) to rid you of all your processed hair you can try braids or weaving your hair. Weaving or braids will allow for you to grow your processed hair out. With each new installation you should wash, condition, and chop the processed hair off. This will take some time but it will give you the same results. Before you start the process of going natural make sure its really what you want. Its not just a look but a lifestyle too. Your self confidence will be tested as you make the transition. Dont make the mistake of thinking now that I'm natural I can ease out of still taking care of my hair. You should still stick to your weekly or bi weekly hair care regimen.  Im almost ready for my natural look and when I make the switch I will be sure to post pics.  Here are some ladies that weren't scared to rock their roots...

Goapele style is her own and unique. I love it

Leela's lovely blonde blow out

Ms. Badu can rock locks, bald head, big fros she runs the natural hair game!

Chrisette is just flawless in her blonde curls

Looks are Limitless

The social culture and the music of the era impact our looks in one way or another. Some looks are just fads, and some reappear. Just like history, fashion repeats itself, but in due time. Some people are eclectic, and are capable of breaking the time, space and continuum rules of fashion, music and art.

This mod look was hot and heavy in its debut. Twiggy definitely was the face of that fashion era. Some mod revivalists were mostly interested in live performances by contemporary bands, and DJ events featuring recordings of 1960s music. In this era people's interest in R&B and soul  music  increased, with a small number of clubs and bars holding events.

George Clinton is a music and fashion mogul and legend in his own right. There's really not much to say.
